Kittens who’re so blissful to be taken in by a household canine who will take care of them as their very own

Two kittens found a cute family dog to be their surrogate mother after being rescued together.

Three weeks ago, two tabby kittens were brought to the Manhattan Animal Care Centers (MACC) to live better lives. They were found without a mother and clung to each other for comfort.

The couple needed a nursing home, so Asa, a MACC volunteer, stepped forward to help. She brought them home when they were about three weeks old.

The kittens Gilligan and Milli quickly emerged from their shells and began to seek affection and attention from their foster mother. They were very young and eager for a mother's love. Asa knew exactly the perfect friend to introduce the kittens to.

As a

Asa's 7 year old dog Kona has a big heart and strong maternal instinct for kittens in need. She was rescued and later adopted with her three pups, but returned to the shelter twice. She had quite a journey ahead of her before she was at home with Asa forever. "She came to me as a carer and ended up being a 'nursing mistake'," Asa told Love Meow.

Kona was excited to meet the tabbies when she could hear their tiny squeaks through the door. A few days later, the cute dog stepped into the kitten room with his paw and immediately began mothering the new babies.

As a

The feeling was mutual as the kittens came straight up to her and snuggled into her face. They were an instant family. "It was love at first sight on both ends," added Asa.

The kittens raved about their new mother. For the first few days they tried to groom her and cried to get her attention. Mama Kona licked their faces and showered them with love.

As a

When Kona tried to take care of one kitten, the other started crying that it was her turn. The loving dog was busy switching mother's duties between the two needy kittens. She was in bliss and took care of the discerning little ones.

Kona watches over her kittens every step of the way. If they wander a little too far away, she carries them back to the nest and gives them a mandatory bath.

As a

"Kona has always been a great mom for caring for kittens, but these two are the first to ever wear her," Asa shared with Love Meow. "She carries them to her bed to give them all the kisses in the world."

The kittens love their dog mommy and can't get enough of her attention. They cuddle up with her in a puddle when they take a nap. As soon as Kona hears her screams, she comes running.

As a

"Milli is more of a mother's girl. She'll find her way to Kona somehow. I always find her sleeping together," Asa said.

In a few weeks the tabby kittens will be ready for the next phase of their lives – a forever loving home.

As a

"Lil & # 39; Milli is the needier one – she wakes me up every morning for breakfast, but is also the cuddly one who keeps running to me to sit on my lap," said Asa.

"Gilligan is the more playful one. She likes to run around and jump to attack my feet."

As a

With Kona's help, the two cat siblings flourish and grow by leaps and bounds.

As a

"The kittens will be too big for Mama Kona to carry very, very soon."
